Tenkara line spools make both long-term storage and moving from spot to spot more organized and convenient. But just like every piece of gear, people will have their own preferences and demands. Today, we’re lucky to have a few different designs we can choose from to suit our individual needs. In this video, I cover just a few different designs and where you can buy them.
Tenkara Line Spool Retailers
Jason…great post. I was familiar with the first couple of line holders you showed but it’s good to know about the other foam line holders. They may be good for certain situations I may find myself in. BTW…I really like that last one ;)!
LOL, that’s my favorite too Chris! Nice work!
Jason, TB ordered some of the 90mm blue spools for me. At first they seem large if you are used to using the 70mm spools. However, after using/handling only the 90mm spools for a couple of weeks the 70mm spools seemed small I picked one up.
I think I am going to prefer the larger spools. I don’t carry much when on the water. I keep everything a small GG backpack hipbelt pocket, I think I may have gotten the idea from your website. Previously in the pocket I would carry 1 small flybox, 1 spool of tippet and up to 4 of the 70mm spools. The only sacrifice I have made is that I can now only carry two 90mm spools and 1 70mm spool. Everything else is the same. I don’t really need as many as 4 spools and rarely changed lines anyway.
It does seem like I can wind the line on quicker using the 90mm spools. I’ve put the EZ keepers on one rod but never liked them that much. They have the same problem as the old ladder holders.
