For the fly angler that has everything…
If you have a fly fisher in your life and want to give them a fly fishing gift, you probably have the same dilemma every holiday season: they already have EVERYTHING so what can I get them? Even though fly fishers tend to be gear junkies and obsessively collect all the latest and greatest gear on their own, all hope is not lost for the gift giver. There are still some unique gifts you can give the fly fisher that “has everything”. Here are some ideas:
1. A Tenkara fly rod. If you haven’t heard the word “Tenkara” uttered by the fly angler in your life, then this will be a gift that will knock their socks off. Tenkara is a traditional form of fly fishing from Japan that is growing in popularity in the U.S. No reel is used, only a rod and line. It’s perfect for small streams and most American fly fishers who have tried it soon become addicted. If you really want to blow their mind, get a Tenkara rod plus a rod quiver to create the ultimate ultralight fly fishing package.
2. A personalized, handcrafted wooden fly box. Fly fishers love tradition and nothing says tradition like a handmade wooden fly box. With 3 types of wood to choose from, a laser engraved trout on both the inside and outside of the lid, and free engraving of the recipient’s name, each box is special and will be cherished for years to come. Imagine the look on their face when they unwrap an heirloom quality wood fly box with THEIR name engraved on the lid!
3. An ultralight fly fishing pack. If they hike or backpack, this pack is perfect for carrying all the essentials in a compact and lightweight design. It’s guaranteed they’ve never seen anything like this before. We designed it and are the only ones who carry it!
4. A front pack. Functions as a lightweight substitute for a fly fishing vest but is so much more. It’s also great for backpacking, trail running, hiking, mountain biking, and just about every other outdoor endeavor you can think of.
5. De-fishing Soap. A great stocking stuffer! This soap really does remove the fish smell from hands. Any fly fisher would appreciate this and it’s definitely not something you can buy at Orvis or Cabela’s!
These are just some ideas that might help out non-flyfishers give some great gifts this year. For more gift ideas, check out our gear shop or contact us. We’d be happy to give you some advice on how to make this year’s gift unique. Happy Holidays!
