What do you mean, “now”? Haven’t you been on YouTube for a while? Well, yes. I have been using my personal YouTube channel to upload tenkara videos for this blog. But in light of recent events, I thought it was best to create a separate TenkaraTalk channel. Let me explain…
Some of you might know that I have a background in backpacking and that I have another blog called Gear Talk. Over the years, I’ve made a lot of backpacking-related videos and currently have over 5,600 subscribers on my YouTube channel. The problem is, they go to my channel expecting backpacking videos–not tenkara videos. In fact, some of my subscribers were pretty angry that I’m posting fishing videos there instead of backpacking videos. So, I felt it was best to separate it out so I can still continue to post tenkara videos without upsetting (and potentially losing) my subscribers.
One of my rules of blogging is to never deviate from the subject. You come here expecting to see posts about tenkara–not about my cat, or what I had for lunch. And so in a sense, I violated my own rule on YouTube. I tried to use the same platform for 2 different things forgetting that people come to my YouTube channel expecting to see backpacking videos. But I think this new channel will resolve it.
Of course I will post all of my upcoming tenkara videos on this blog, but if you’d like, feel free to stop by the TenkaraTalk YouTube channel and subscribe if you’d like to get updates when I add new videos.
